[Introduction] These days our country is called the “Chicken Republic”. However there is a cross section of our country in the backside of enjoying chicken. When an employee of a company suddenly retires, there are not many opportunities with such small capitals. We all are living in a fierce life that is a field for survival. In that kind of life, how can we enjoy peace? Apostle Paul gives an answer to this through today’s passage. He teaches us the secret of enjoying peace which is not simple and temporary, but eternal and given by God. I bless you in the name of the Lord that may all of Yewon believers receive more specific answers about how to live the life of enjoying peace given by God and get the evidences influencing spiritually over your fields as saved children of God through today’s scripture.
1. The Path that Peace Comes Upon
Apostle Paul emphasized the life in the Lord when he began chapter four of Philippians. He especially emphasized the joyful life, which is the theme of the book of Philippians. The reason that he repeats this in verse four is because the current circumstance is actually not a joyful situation at all. But he emphasizes to rejoice even in that kind of situations which is the most important thing and the only way to stay in the Lord. In verse six to seven, he says we may be anxious as we live through the life of Genesis chapter three. The Bible identifies people in two ways. The first is the children of God and the other is the children of the devil. Before they believe in Jesus Christ, the devil did not touch them because they were his children. However, the devil starts attacking them because their identity and affiliation has changed for believing in Jesus. The most important thing at that point is opening one’s spiritual eyes. In fact, the word “worry” originally means “to separate mind.” It means to have an ambivalent mind. Therefore, we must respond spiritually as our fight is not against the flesh and blood, but a spiritual battle against the ruler of the world of darkness and wicked spirits in the sky. In other words, this is prayer. It means to pray with gratitude. Then the peace from God will arrive through the prayer and that peace will protect your mind and thoughts. According to Dr. Walter Cabot, 40% of worries are things that will never occur, 30% are about the past, 12% are about the worthless worries regarding health, and 10% are about the unimportant things. Therefore, only the remaining 8% are related to actual life, but we shall let Jesus handle the 8% and live a life that is 100% worry free. In Matthew 6:27, Jesus asks and concludes in verse 34. In short, He says, “Don’t be anxious.” It means to request everything by prayer. In John 14:1, He says not to be afraid. I bless you in the name of the Lord to move forward in your step of faith by spiritually communicating in prayer with the Lord and abundantly enjoying the peace from God of peace.
2. The Fruits of Peace
In Philippians 4:8-9, concluding the book of the Philippians, Apostle Paul mentions the things that he wants to encourage the believers of the Philippians church to do. Especially, these things are the figures of people who experience the peace of God by thanksgiving prayer. It is the fruits that people who live peaceful lives bear. He emphasizes to live the life that is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent and worthy of praise. You can receive the power to live the life that is lovely and commendable in human relationships when you have a right relationship with God. In today’s scripture, Apostle Paul repeatedly uses the expression ‘whatever’. That means ‘in the midst of any situation, happening and meeting’. He especially emphasizes to do whatever they have learned, received or heard from him to the believers of the Philippians church. He has not emphasized to the believers in the Philippians church how to live the life just by his lips but he has shown them the way of life by showing his own life. If the expression “Whatever is lovely” in today’s passage is changed to real terms, it means to have a charming life. I bless in the name of the Lord that all Yewon believers would be Christians who exert the spiritual influence by living a full charming life and bearing the eight fruits of peace Paul has mentioned.
[Conclusion] From a spiritual perspective, worry and anxiety is a scarecrow that Satan gives. All of Satan’s attacks are like this. He gives worries to our minds and thoughts and we start to have unbelief. That is why I tell you that there is no need to be deceived. Having no worries, just keep your mind and heart protected by prayer. Please pray with thanksgiving to God amongst all problems and times. If so, amazing peace from God will come to us. If God’s peace leaves from our mind, everything we face will become worries. But when God’s peace comes upon us, true hope and joy will flow. “Casting all your anxieties onto him, because he cares for you.” I bless all Yewon believers in the name of the Lord to be Christ’s true disciples who enjoy this biblical peace and save other people’s souls.
