[Introduction] “I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God.” (Revelation 3:12) This year God has given us His word as a promise. It is clear that He is telling us that he is going to utilize us as a pillar of saving souls and the main figure in building the main sanctuary. Since pillar is very important for the safety of a structure, God is telling us He is going to make us the pillar in expending God’s kingdom. I want you all to hope for Christ who overcomes everything, to live a life of someone who overcomes in the power of Christ.
The word God is giving us through this year’s pulpit massage is about the faith. He declares, and he surely fulfills. “He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.” In Numbers 23:19 it is clearly highlighted: “God is not man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? And does he promise and not fulfill?” The Lord our God certainly accomplishes His word. And if you have clear faith in His promise, you’ll be able to carry on in good faith no matter what the situations may be. I bless in the name of our Lord that all Yewon believers receive this kind of answers in order to become the steady pillars in the temple of God in 2016.
1. God Who Speaks His Words
Ending his letter with good encouragements, in today’s passage Apostle Paul particularly mentions God’s purpose towards the Thessalonians. In our walk of faith and to be led well in it, we need to distinguish what God wants. If you simply define the walk of faith, you’ll get this—it is about living according to God’s will. It is all about discovering His purpose and plan and obeying. If you look at 2 Timothy chapter 3 verses 16-17, it shows you this fact well. Especially, today’s pulpit message is about how you should act spiritually to be used for the achievement of God’s covenant. In verses 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13, ‘those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord’ stands for the elders and pastors. And the Bible mentions that you should ‘respect’ those first, which means that you ‘acknowledge’ those in the original sense. Actually, human beings are under construction in front of God. It means that you are not perfect without Him. In 1 Thessalonians 5:14-15, Apostle Paul says in detail the way of a life of faith that the Christian believers should lead. Firstly, ‘admonish the idle’. The idle in this passage can also signify ‘those without reasonable attitude’, which is a military term for those who get out of the line and act at their pleasure. And for those people, you should encourage them strongly. For those who are fainthearted and spiritually feeble, you should help them. In short, you should be the beings that save one another.
I bless you in the name of the Lord that may all Yewon Church members realize the step of spiritual conqueror who overcomes evil with good in 2016.
2. God Who Accomplishes His Words
Apostle Paul emphasizes that God’s will is rejoicing always, praying without ceasing and giving thanks in all circumstances. God does not order us impossible things. God speaks to us through the bible and accomplishes the Words. 1 Thessalonians 5:19-22 states that the most important thing is not to quench the Spirit. That means we have to sincerely follow the Holy Spirit’s work. In Galatians 5:16-17, Apostle Paul reveals this spiritual fact that we must walk by the Spirit and will not gratify the desires of the flesh. The flesh means the nature of human, which has been with fallen human since the Genesis chapter three. So, today’s scripture says, “Do not despise prophecies, but test everything; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.” Having spiritual discrimination power, we must live lives throwing away the things which are departed from God’s word and make a resolution.
In Revelation 3:8, it gives us a reason how the Philadelphia believers showed the great evidence with little power. The essence of the reason is that they kept God’s Word. I bless you in the name of the Lord that may all Yewon believers experience God who accomplishes His Words in 2016.
[Conclusion] In an economic view, ‘Hot taste’ makes a hit in the temporary recession and ‘Sweetness’ makes a hit in the long-term recession. That means sweet food can give comfort when you get stressed. However, this kind of comfort is just a temporary solution. There is the fundamental solution. What is it? It is the Word of God. In Psalms 19:10, David confesses that God’s Word is sweeter than honey. In Ezekiel 3:3, when God made Ezekiel to eat a scroll of the Word, he confessed that it tasted as sweet as honey in his mouth. I bless all of you in the name of the Lord that may you follow the schedule of answer and have evidence of standing as the Pillar that Saves Souls and the Pillar of construction of the main sanctuary.
