‘Let us restore identity of a disciple’
Those who are saved, children of God should see the things beyond the life of unbelievers. That is your heavenly mandate, calling, and mission. Those are who uncover one`s heavenly mandate, calling and mission which God gave them. And then, the change will take place in their lives. Being alive means you have something to do. It means you have your own mission from God. So, living the successful life of the Christian depends on how much you grab hold on to your mission and how much you devote yourself to it. I bless all Yewon believers to have the answer of living the life of successful Christian and having the evidence to boldly stand as a pillar of God`s church.
1. Qualification of a Successful Christian
In 2 Timothy 2:1-2, Paul mentioned two basic qualifications to live a life of a successful Christian.
First, he said to be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus. Christians don't have a source of power from themselves. It comes to us when the grace in Christ is in us. That's why Apostle Paul confessed "I can do all things through him who strengthens me" in Philippians 4:13. What's more, once you are given grace continuously through God's word, you are getting stronger and braver. Especially, you should attend worship and also have time for meditating God's word. To change your incorrect imprints in the heart, you must grasp onto the pulpit message and go into meditating God's word. If you have time to be imprinted through meditation, you can spiritually grow.
Secondly, Apostle Paul clarified that as a successful Christian, fundamental qualification of life was attributed to reproduction. He emphasized that raising Christ’s disciples is a true success as a Christian. You should spread the Gospel to other people, teach them to relay the Gospel and render them customized, natured, and applicable to their field. I bless in the name of our Lord that you live the life of successful Christians of which the Holy Spirit spoke about by holding onto the truth that the growth takes place when the Word and the field meets together.
2. Successful Attitude of a Christian
Apostle Paul uses three metaphors to let us know what kind of attitude we need to have to live a worthy life in Christ in 2Timothy 2:3-4.
The first spiritual attitude is to be a good soldier of Christ Jesus. Soldiers are supposed to live a life of devotion and obedience. They cannot be self-centered anymore, they have to obey and please the one who enlisted them into the military.
Second, Apostle Paul emphasizes that successful Christians need to compete according to the rules. The Players' absolute goal is to win and have victory. The important thing is to compete according to the rules. What would be to break the rules or cheat in game spiritually? It is to preach something other than the gospel and get something done on your own without the gospel. It is important to live your life according to the word of God and hold onto pulpit messages through worship.
Lastly, Apostle Paul says a successful Christian should live like a hardworking farmer. Let's be a spiritual farmer who is patient and hard-working for the fruits of the Gospel. I hope you take care of souls like a farmer. Then, you can have the first share of the crops. When you look at a soul coming back to the Lord and bearing another fruit, nurtured according to the word of God, you must be so happy. I bless you; may all Yewon believers live a life of a successful Christian who receives the prize in Heaven in the name of the Lord.
The successful life as a Christian is rooted in loyalty. When you accomplish God-given missions for the benefit of the Gospel and God’s kingdom in any circumstance, you will bear fruits. Numerous ancestors in faith and martyrs lived a loyal life like this. I bless all Yewon believers, every last man live a life to please God, who call us as Christ’s disciples and spiritual soldiers of God’s kingdom and stand as a pillar of God’s temple in the name of the Lord.
