Through today’s passage, Apostle Paul is encouraging Timothy to become a worker that is approved by God for the Kingdom of God. As I said, 2 Timothy is the deathbed letter of Paul, so every verse contains sincerity. It emphasizes what Timothy needs to do with true absoluteness. I bless that may all Yewon believers get the answer of standing as a worker approved by God and being used as a pillar of expanding the kingdom of God.
1.Discernment of the Word
Apostle Paul makes it clear that in order for you to be a worker approved by God, you should rightfully handle the word of truth. Simply put, discernment of the word is the first requirement of being an approved worker.
In order for you to be approved by God, you should understand what word of God contains God’s will and plan. In the passage, it says, ‘discern what is good’ in Hebrew, this means cutting it down straightly. It indicates the stonemasons cutting the stones straight, and farmers making their lines straight. Simply put, it means to judge with discernment. In verse 14, Apostle Paul says ‘do not quarrel about words’ before rightfully handling the word of truth. The word quarrel that is mentioned here is not about a simple dispute, but about an argument about spiritual truth.
It is most important for you to exercise spiritual discernment. And above all, you need to hold on to the pulpit message. I am not saying that this is unconditional.
What heresies do best is to create their religious dogma with a few selected books from the Bible, not from the whole thing. They need to see how God, the Trinity works within the fulfillment of redemption, but they just take things from here and there and make their own theories.
John 14:6 says ‘the Way‘, in Acts 4:12, it says ‘the Name‘ and in Romans 8:1-2, it says ‘Only Christ Jesus‘. Amen? Do not be deceived. I hope all of you may apply the word of God as it is and as it is taught. I bless you in the name of the Lord for your life to reform and may you grow as a worker who pleases God.
2. Cleansed and Prepared Vessel
Paul emphasizes that each of the vessels are used by the owner’s will and purpose, but there is the most important principle to be used. It is that it should be a cleansed and prepared vessel. The word ‘cleansed’ means throwing away all past things and being filled with the Gospel. To be used before God, the standard is how much you are rooted and imprinted with the Gospel and how much your nature has changed in the Gospel.
In 1Corrithians 4:7, This treasure refers the Christ. And we are like jars of clay, which is made of sand. We are just like the jars of clay that can be easily broken and be worthless. But this kind of worthless jar can be changed into a valuable thing when it has true treasure, which is Jesus Christ. Then, it will become the most worthy thing in the world.
We should be the individuals who God easily and frequently uses. We should cast aside all our personal things and be 100% obedient to the Word of God. We should be the vessels that God easily uses and be prepared to be used. That is why training is so important and it`s also important to be awaken spiritually
I hope all of you to see the fact that your stewardship in this age is God`s providence that will make you a greater vessel. I bless all Yewon believers in the name of the Lord to faithfully take your stewardship that is given to you in this year of 2016 and have the evidences of becoming a proper vessel that God uses.
There are many unlike types of believers, there are believers who are continuously faithful with the mindset that does not change. They are the foundation type of believers. I wish all Yewon believers would be Christ’s servants who do not tremble no matter what the situation is. Verse 15 of today’s passage also emphasizes it. “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” It means do not get your throne taken away. I bless you in the name of the Lord that all Yewon believers be a servant recognized by God, and as a pillar for saving lives and being part of the main sanctuary construction in 2016.
